Partner programme call for Science Forum 2027 now open
The next Science Forum, Finland's largest science festival, will take place from 20 to 24 January 2027 at the University of Helsinki Main Building and Think Corner. The theme of the 2027 event is Leap into the Unknown.
Science Forum is a multidisciplinary science festival open to everyone interested in science, bringing together researchers from various disciplines to present their work and engage in discussions with the public. The core programme is developed by the Programme Committee, and we are now inviting our partner organisations to complement it with their own programme proposals.
If your organisation would like to organise a session at Science Forum 2027, please send a preliminary programme proposal to info(at)tieteenpaivat.fi by 2 February 2026. Your proposal should include a title, a short description of the content explaining how it relates to the event theme, and the names of any proposed speakers.
The Science Forum Programme Committee will review all proposals and decide which ones will be included in the programme. Applicants will be informed of the decisions by week 9 at the latest.
If your proposal is accepted, the deadline for submitting the final programme information will be mid-April 2026. After that, the programme schedule will be prepared and circulated to session chairs and partner organisations for review. Minor updates to programme information can be made until the end of August, after which the programme will be finalised for layout and printing.
Programme proposals may be submitted in Finnish, Swedish or English. When preparing your proposal, please take the following programme formats into account:
- Sessions (1 hour) typically consist of three 10–15-minute presentations followed by audience discussion.
- Panel discussions (1 hour) are intended to focus on discussion and audience questions rather than formal presentations.
- Lectures (1 hour) are delivered by a single speaker. At least 15 minutes should be reserved for audience questions.
- Workshops (varying duration) focus on engaging participants through discussion or other interactive activities.
You may choose whichever programme format best suits your proposal. The formats can be adapted to suit the content, but the overall duration of each event should remain unchanged. If you are planning a longer seminar in connection with Science Forum, organisers are usually expected to arrange a suitable venue near the University of Helsinki City Centre Campus themselves.
